Land Clearing
We clear trees and brush off ranch land and building sites with heavy equipment, roots and all. The ground is left ready for the pad or road that comes next.

Bankston's Builders takes on custom home construction for select clients in Fort Worth and across the Dallas-Fort Worth area. We build each house from the ground up. The dirt work and the pad come first, and the house goes up from there through the final finishes: stone exteriors, custom iron doors and stone arches, fireplaces, custom kitchens and baths. These are high-end homes, built for the people who will live in them.
We are a custom home builder with real expertise on heavy equipment. Your pad gets the same site preparation we give commercial buildings and oilfield locations. The same machines handle our dirt work in Fort Worth for commercial and ranch projects.
Tell us about the land or the building project and where it is. We look at the job and put the quote in writing.
A custom home starts well before the frame goes up. First the homesite is cleared, and the pad is cut and filled to grade. Then the fill is compacted so the foundation sits on firm, even ground.
The ground under Fort Worth varies. The city's tree guide describes shallow clay over limestone in the north and southwest, and deeper clay to the south. Clay soils can swell when wet and shrink as they dry. State guidance on expansive soils calls them a very common cause of foundation problems.
On a custom home, the dirt work is the first phase of a longer job. The plan and the finishes are yours to pick. The job ends with the finished house, on ground we prepared ourselves.
Inside city limits, the City of Fort Worth Development Services Department issues residential building permits. Its checklist for a new house asks for the lot's recorded plat and a survey or site plan. That plan shows the setbacks and the lot lines with their easements.
The same checklist says all new residential permits must have an engineered foundation plan. The foundation is built to that engineer's design.
The checklist also includes a lot drainage guide and an energy code check sheet. The permit office answers questions about a specific lot, and we point you there.
The finishes are where a custom home earns its name. Stone exteriors with stone arches and a custom iron front door set the house apart from the street. Inside, a fireplace and the stonework around it anchor the main room, and a standing seam roof finishes the outside.
The kitchen and the baths get the most attention, because that is where people decide. A custom kitchen means custom cabinets, an island, the countertops and the appliances chosen for the plan. A custom bath means a freestanding tub, a double vanity, high-end tile work and a glass shower. Custom closets, flooring and millwork follow the same standard.
Every one of those finishes goes on a house that started as a pad we cut and compacted ourselves. The plan is yours, and the quality runs from the dirt to the last door handle. Our Work shows the kind of building the company does.
A custom home on acreage needs more dirt work than a house on a city lot. The homesite may need land clearing first, and a gravel drive in from the road. The drive gets the same road base and drainage we build on ranch roads.
Then we build the pad and dig the trenches for water lines and electrical conduit. Licensed plumbers and electricians make the hookups. Grading around the house sends water away from the foundation, and swales or culverts carry it off the site.
Outside city limits, the rules for a new house can depend on the county. Texas law lets a county adopt a residential building standard there, with at least three inspections. The first comes at the foundation stage, before the concrete is placed. Your county can tell you whether that standard covers your land.

Call or text (214) 557-5106, or send the form. Tell us what the project is, where the land or the building sits and when you need it done.
We go over the tract or the space, the plans and the access for heavy equipment. On dirt work we also look at the ground and where the water runs.
The scope and the price go in writing before any work starts. The quote spells out what gets cleared, cut, built or finished.
Machines and crews come in on the set date. On a dirt job the work runs in order: clearing, the pad or the road, the trenches, then the drainage. On a build, the trades follow the schedule.
The ground is left graded and compacted to the plan, ready for concrete, a building or a rig. On a finish out or a custom home, the work runs through to the finished space.

Land grading levels lots and tracts and shapes the ground so water runs off. We do rough grading and finish grading with heavy equipment for developers, ranch owners and oil and gas operators.
Learn MoreExcavators, dozers, compactors and skid steers do the work, run by crews with real expertise on each machine. The jobs are sized to match: multi-acre clearing, commercial pads, long roads and oilfield locations.
The pad, the concrete and the building can all run through the same company. A custom home starts on a pad we cut and compacted. A commercial project can go from raw land to a finished tenant space.
Developers, oil and gas operators, data center builders and ranch owners all bring us ground to move. Each site gets its own scope, whether that is a detention pond, a lease road or a campus pad.
