Low Voltage and AV Wiring in Fort Worth, TX

Low Voltage and AV Wiring · Fort Worth, TX

Network cabling and AV systems wired in with the build

Low voltage wiring carries the data, sound, video and control signals inside a commercial building. Bankston's Builders runs it in the commercial spaces we finish out and on data center projects around Fort Worth. That covers Ethernet and structured cabling, AV systems and show lighting, plus the conduit and pathways for all of it. On data center projects, we also put together and set the server racks.

A lot of people call it AV work, and pretty much every big commercial project has some. On a commercial tenant finish out, the low voltage work is one more trade we manage on the job. For a data center campus, our data center site work covers the ground, and this work covers the racks inside. A licensed electrician handles the line-voltage side, including the panels and the power circuits.

What Does Low Voltage Wiring Cover in a Commercial Space?

Ethernet wiring carries the network out to the desks and devices in a space. Structured cabling organizes those runs back to a central rack or network closet. AV installation covers the displays, the speakers, the projection and the cable that feeds them.

Every run needs a path through the building. We build the conduit and pathways that carry the cable through the walls and above the ceilings. Lighting controls run on low voltage cable too.

On a finish out, the low voltage cable goes in after the framing and before the drywall closes. The screens and the rack equipment come in near the end, after the finishes. When we run the finish out, we are the low voltage contractor too, so it all sits on one schedule.

Structured Cabling and Server Racks for Data Centers Around Fort Worth

The City of Fort Worth's data center page counts four developments in the city, with 10 buildings. One more is under construction, and four more have been proposed. Inside each data hall sit rows of server racks and the network cabling that ties them together.

On data center projects, our part starts with the racks: we put them together and set them in place. We run the network cabling to each rack and build the conduit and pathways that carry it. The power to each rack belongs to a licensed electrician, and fiber splicing is a separate trade.

Some network runs go underground in conduit, between buildings on a campus. Those trenches fall under our utility trenching work. State law requires a Texas 811 notice before machine digging 16 inches deep or more. The notice goes in at least 48 hours ahead, weekends and holidays aside.

AV Installation and Show Lighting for Immersive Experience Venues

Our AV work includes immersive experience venues in Dallas and Orlando. There we built a glow-in-the-dark ball pit, a floor-is-lava room, a sensory lounge and a laser hallway. Rooms like these take a lot of AV and low voltage work.

In a venue like that, the lasers and the show lighting run off lighting controls. Sound and video run through the AV system. We run the low voltage cable for both and build the pathways it travels in.

That work ran as part of the finish out on those venues, along with the custom lighting and storefront. Stores and offices get the same low voltage work, sized to the space.

How We Work

How a Job With Bankston's Builders Runs

From the first call or text to the finished work, here is how it goes.

1

Call or Text

Call or text (214) 557-5106, or send the form. Tell us what the project is, where the land or the building sits and when you need it done.

2

We Look at the Job

We go over the tract or the space, the plans and the access for heavy equipment. On dirt work we also look at the ground and where the water runs.

3

The Quote in Writing

The scope and the price go in writing before any work starts. The quote spells out what gets cleared, cut, built or finished.

4

Equipment Moves In

Machines and crews come in on the set date. On a dirt job the work runs in order: clearing, the pad or the road, the trenches, then the drainage. On a build, the trades follow the schedule.

5

Finished and Ready for What Comes Next

The ground is left graded and compacted to the plan, ready for concrete, a building or a rig. On a finish out or a custom home, the work runs through to the finished space.

FAQ

Low Voltage and AV Wiring Questions, Answered

Common questions about low voltage and av wiring around Fort Worth and the rest of our Texas service area. If yours is not here, call or text and ask.

Call (214) 557-5106

What is the difference between low voltage and line-voltage wiring?
Line-voltage wiring carries the building's power from the panels to the outlets and light fixtures. Low voltage wiring carries signals, such as the network, sound, video and lighting controls. A licensed electrician handles the line-voltage side, and we handle the low voltage side.
What is structured cabling?
Structured cabling is a planned system of network cable for a building. Each run goes from a central rack or closet out to an outlet in the space. Keeping every run organized at the rack makes later moves and additions simpler.
Does low voltage wiring need a permit in Fort Worth?
Fort Worth's commercial permit page says changes to electrical work need a permit. The city has adopted the 2026 National Electrical Code, effective September 1, 2026. The electrical permit is one of the city's trade permits, and the building permit has to be issued first. Whether a given low voltage scope needs its own permit is a question for the city's Development Services department.
How long does low voltage and AV wiring take?
The number of runs and the size of the AV system set most of the schedule. Lead times on screens and rack equipment can add time. We set the schedule after we look at the space and the plans, and it goes in the written quote.
What does low voltage and AV wiring cost?
The number of cable runs and their length drive most of the price. Ceiling height and the AV equipment on the plans move it too. Server racks and conduit add to the number on data center projects. We look at the job and put the quote in writing, so call or text (214) 557-5106.
Do you take low voltage and AV work outside Fort Worth?
Yes. Fort Worth sits at the center of our service area, and the Dallas-Fort Worth area comes first for commercial work. Our service area reaches about 300 miles out, and data center projects can be anywhere in it. See the towns we serve for the full list.

Why Choose Bankston's Builders

Dirt Work and Construction Around Fort Worth

Heavy Equipment on Every Job

Excavators, dozers, compactors and skid steers do the work, run by crews with real expertise on each machine. The jobs are sized to match: multi-acre clearing, commercial pads, long roads and oilfield locations.

Dirt Work and the Build, One Company

The pad, the concrete and the building can all run through the same company. A custom home starts on a pad we cut and compacted. A commercial project can go from raw land to a finished tenant space.

Commercial, Oilfield, Data Center and Ranch Work

Developers, oil and gas operators, data center builders and ranch owners all bring us ground to move. Each site gets its own scope, whether that is a detention pond, a lease road or a campus pad.
